Well it's been yet another week. Working on a pony that's driving me nuts and I was dumped yet again, but is that going to stop me? NEVER! So this week's assignment a was to take two pictures to example two of the three color themes correct? Well, lets see what I've got...
On tuesday my mom found 4 baby (tuebed out to be 5 later) and their momma mouse in a cabinet. My dad caught them and we sorta dumped them into a trash can and watched the for the rest of te day (we fed them too). They were just so cute and yet icky, but cute still. We set them free accross the road before it got dark.
This is an example of monochrmacy because the mousies are all gray/ gray-tan tones that are realatively similar to the coloration of the plastc can they're in, and the dust/dirt that was in the can too.

So koo-koo-kachoo. Working on the lighting part b assignment; will be up tomorrow. Have happy friday all!

Wildlife is actually hard to get unless you happen to spend a lot of time in the woods. These mice are really cute - okay I agree - I don't want them in my cabinets - but good composition! The green bottle on the red rug - very creative and I love the perspective.
p.s. some weeks are better than others ;o)
Hi Kat,
As long as they are not rats, I am okay... no heebie jeebies. Wildlife is so hard to photograph, it seems it happens when we least expect it and when we want it, it's 8 hours later and still crouching down in the middle of a field somewhere because you are now unable to move your legs and back (well those of us that have accumulated yearage) ;0) and can't get up! I found with the monochromes that in order to make it interesting that it had to have some kind of other impact such as texture, etc. Did you find the same? I had a little bit difficulty seeing the green of the glass, but that could be because I am up so late working on the comments, etc. (I can relate to the one of those weeks). That was a good idea in doing a still life shot with a different angle! Did you try placing the container sideways to see how light reflecting would affect the image also?
Hey I love the soda rug complementary shot. The edge of the top of the bottle shines green against the crimson rug. I like the composition it looks like a post punk album cover. Cool shot.
Kat,
I liked the soda bottle/rug shoot. I definitely can see the green on the very edge of the soda bottle, but overall it made me think of the photo as being monochrome, with the different hue of red. There is the rug, the ring on the soda bottle, then the deep dark red, almost black hues of of bottle itself, and even the shadow of the bottle plays into the hue of red. Neat!
As I was looking at it and thinking about Karen's post about perspective, it made me think in some cases these types of photos could also be looked at from different perspectives depending on what the photographer was trying to accomplish and then how the viewer is actually seeing it.
Awww the mice are so cute! I love the bottle picture. I don't think I would have even known what I was looking at if you hadn't of told me. :0)
I loved your vault bottle shot, I thought it was a door handle at first. The color is si rich, really nice angle!
Alright so a lot of people have already commented, but I agree - the mice are cute (as long as they're outside!), and I echo the comments on your bottle composition -Awesome perspective
