Lighting

I must appologize for not putting this up yesterday/ eariler. Saturday was the town's "fall festival" and my family was one of the venders there so I was manning a booth all day. And eariler we were finishing putting our basement back together after a month of renovating it. But excuses aside-on to the images!

This one was taken in the morning. The pine tree lives beside my driveway. You can see the disfused light and no harsh shadows.

This one was taken around noon time when the sun was at its and the harshest. You can clearly see the fade out edges from the harsh light cutting into the tree.

This one was taken well...at night as you could probably tell. I had the flash on for this one because of the darkk, yet despite that I rather enjoy the creeping in darkness it provides.

So I learned that there isn't much lighting differeance outside (these are only 3 of like 7 I took). Controled lighting is much easier.

VelvetSky the Los Lonely Boys My Little Pony

Well, I am a customizer of hasboro's My Little Ponys (meaning i repaint/rehair/redesign them). This pretty little girl I just finished on Tuesday, for a concert I'm attending on Friday. Her design was inspired by Los Lonely Boy's song "Velvet Sky".

First I took a series of 360 shots of her. This shot best described her display side (from now on DS) and allows you to see the gradation down across her body, and clearly see the blue highlights in her tail. It however, does not show off the blue highlights in her mane as clearaly. Dude to the distance (this being a long range shot) you cannot see the pale yellow of her iris. The flash was on for this shot, and due to the distance it didn't white out any of her foam, though it did highlight the jewels somewhat.

In this second shot, I was trying to get a detailed shot of her head so you could better see the detail in her eyes. However, the flas whited that out to some degree, and magnified the painting mistake the jewels were suposed to be covering up. From this close up, slightly elevated angle I think you get a nice perception of her back/body, and you can see the connecting coloring in her body gradient to the layers of feathers on her wings. you can also better see the blue highlights in her mane, even though this is again her DS where the mane doesn't fall.

I choose these two shots to display because even though I like both of them, I fully understand the faults with the second one (ie. the flash white out, the room background). This was a way to show that there's a correct and a not-so-correct way to doing this.

And for anyone interested, she took 2 days to paint/rehair/curl hair. Was orignally a 25th anniversary Starshine.

Good Ra I've a "blog"

Wow, never thought I'd see the day when I'd have a real "blog". But here I am, and all for the quest of knowledge. Ain't it grand? So why not start this party off with a picture, ne?

This image was taken in the spring of '07. It was my senior year of high school and I was living alone in Rockingham, VT at my mother's old farm house so I could attend the local high school. This apple tree was half dead and hadn't borne fruit in years when I first moved in. However that fall and this fall it had apples. I believe the tree was happy that I was living there with it. I love my apple tree.

So there we go. First blog post, with picture and boring story included. Yippie for me! Stay posted for future lame storys with weird pictures.
