Hey guess what I'm not dead! Sorry I was sick yesterday-not really pretty. But I'm better today and well enough to not skip class work so yippies!
Not that big of an alteration I know, but it looks good. I used the quick mask to select specific flowers then I used Image=>Adjustments=>Replace Color to change the purple to orange.
For this one I actually used two images of similar thingys (one's a computer the other's a TV). Used the “pin light” blending mode on the second image that was put over the first, then I made a third layer and used a rainbow fill gradient in a circular pattern and used the “color” blending mode on that.

Thanks Kat for putting how you did that. It took me hours to do my picture as I am learning it! Your flower picture came out looking like the orange flowers belonged there. On the other picture is that the computer and t.v. screen or parts of it (like the side, etc.) Hope you are feeling better soon! Rach
When I first looked at your second project I couldn't quite figure it out, but now I think I understand. So you were able to make each hole transparent, for lack of a better word, so that the rainbow spiral would show through... that was pretty clever. Yet, what is the "pin light" blending mode and where is it found? I would have thought to use the magic wand.
I use quick mask all the time. I use to use other tools to do that same thing, but I found that after using quick mask just a few times, I now prefer it. The orange flowers do look very natural.
